Inspiration for Creatures of Habit

We are creatures of habit. We think somewhere between 60,000 to 70,000 thoughts in one day, and 90% of those thoughts are exactly the same ones we had the day before.

A quote from the most informative, powerful and inspirational book I’ve read in a long time; You Are The Palcebo by the incredible Dr Joe Dispenza. I’ll continue with the next paragraph in the book which is transformational and insightful in itself to read all the way through – even though you may feel you know where it is leading…

We get up on the same side of the bed, go through the same routine in the bathroom, comb our hair in the same way, sit in the same chair as we eat the same breakfast and hold our mug in the same hand, drive the same route to the same job, and do the same things we know how to do so well with the same people (who push the same emotional buttons) every day. And then we hurry up and go home so that we can hurry up and check our email so that we can hurry up and eat dinner so that we can hurry up and watch our favourite tv shows so that we can hurry up and brush our teeth in the same bedtime routine so that we can hurry up and go to bed at the same time so that we can hurry up and do it all over again the next day.

Thinking the same thoughts leads us to make the same choices. Making the same choices leads us to demonstrate the same behaviours. Demonstrating the same behaviours leads us to create the same experiences. Creating the same experiences leads us to produce the same emotions.

We do this all whilst secretly hoping our lives will change.

carl jung quote, hypnotherapy, past lives, past life, hypnosis, wellington

Awareness is the first step. Recognise how on autopilot you are. Ask yourself; what would it take to do one thing in a different way to how I did it yesterday? Whether it be an action, behaviour or thought.

And remember it’s not just you, it’s all of us. We’re all somewhat or mostly on repeat from our previous day, and then feel unfulfilled and frustrated with life. But it’s up to each of us to hear our internal cries and respond. Your Soul is yearning to be heard and connected in with.

She wants change. She wants connection. She wants love.

It’s time for change, and in knowing that we want something different and better for ourselves, it’s important to recognise that it’s only us who can create that change for ourselves. We can be inspired by others however to change our thoughts and our lives has to come from us internally.

Make today different from yesterday. Wake up and create life instead of repeating old re-runs, which were mostly unsatisfying the first time anyway.

Wishing you all an inspirational day of connection, love and life!

Something gone astray

healing-love-poetry-poem-spiritual-awakening-spiritual-awakening-wake-up-self-love-relationships.How do we forget so easily

a love that is for us?

We remember what we need to do

and say and be and get.

Yet loving us seems too far fetched,

or hard or something bad.

But it isn’t til we’ve gone astray

and become desperate in our days,

that love finds our heart decayed

believed void of any light.

Yet it’s been dimmed due to neglect,

and years spent shunned in shame,

still never let your mind tell you

that it’s too late for love to show.

For it’s love within that knows

it’s been there all along.

And now it’s time to take a hand

and follow down the path,

for where this track leads you to

is bliss bursting from within.

The Gift Awaits Us.

emotional-health_emotional-healing_letting-go-heal-your-life-hypnotherapy-reiki-wellington-reiki-meditation-poem, poetry,

The gifts the Earth parades for us,

fall silently far from sight.

All that ails, she’s there to cure,

as she begs to ease the minds of many.

Yet we push and pull and complain away,

and miss the show, the majestic dance,

of wind and rain and water spirits,

each beckoning our pain away.

The over identified persona we use

to push away the hearts of those,

we declare too different to us.

And there we sit hidden within

the walls that confine and limit our mind,

preventing us from ever truly,

meeting ourselves.

Why Are We Here?

Has the question ever crossed your mind?

It crosses my mind all the time, and I often wonder how we can go about our day as though everything normal when this question is still unanswered.

What’s the point if we don’t know what the point is?

How can we get up each day and go to work, pay the bills, be a good person and for what? I can’t think about it too hard otherwise my head hurts and I’m left feeling down.

And don’t get me wrong, I’ve thought I’ve found my purpose before, but as the years progress and hopefully so too does my wisdom, life purpose can sometimes get mixed up between something we do while we’re here that makes us feel good and helps people….

Compared with the real question; why the hell are we all here? Not individually, but collectively. I’m not talking about each person’s perceived mission, I’m talking about why billions of us are milling around picking fights with each other and pretending we’ve got it all worked out, when we actually don’t have a bloody clue.

Some people think their purpose is to have children. And I can see how they’ve reached that conclusion. I think that one is about love. We like to think we’ve experienced love but many people haven’t at all. And certainly not unconditional love. So we think having children will invite an experience of greater love into our lives – which surely will bring feelings of fulfillment and YES our life purpose!

But do we really think we’re all here to just create more of ourselves, experience some kind of love, and then just roll the question down to the next generation? That feels a little on repeat for my liking.

But the answer that I’ve stumbled upon in recent years – which so far in my journey, is the only answer which makes any bloody sense to me however mind bending it is; is that we’re not really here.

I know I know, crazy right?

But a while back I had a dream that was so vivid, I was left feeling embarrassed for myself because of it. Although I know feeling embarrassed for myself wasn’t the purpose of the dream, the real purpose I think, was enlightenment.

life purpose, what is the meaning of life, help, healing, spiritual, awakening

I was laying on my bed asleep, dreaming I was having a fight with someone. I remember feeling so angry at them, as they had been so mean to me. I felt the anger ripping right through my body and I could barely contain it as I thought about what they’d said, and how they’d treated me.

As the dream progressed (in which I wasn’t aware I was dreaming) I met up with some friends and talked to them about the mean person. They too became upset for me and agreed the person had been horrible. We joined forces and heatedly barrelled on about how nice I am and questioning, how could someone possibly be so mean to me?

I felt justified in my anger.

Then my perspective panned outward, like in a movie where it was zoomed in and then the camera starts moving backwards further and further. I shifted from being in the dream to looking down on myself laying asleep on the bed.

I saw myself sleeping and no doubt, still dreaming. And then, I saw tall beings all around the bed, looking down on me as I slept, in a loving and caring manner. The perspective continued to pan backward, until I caught a glimpse of the whole world.

I saw the universe and in it, I was the only one asleep.

There were other beings but they were all awake and they were tending to me – the single, solitary sleeper. I realised that I’d been imagining all of the people in the dream scenario.

I’d made up the mean person and then persisted on being angry at them, even going as far as talking about them behind their back and I’d joined forces with other imaginary people to band together in our hate… But it was all me. Just me. I was the only one asleep, and I’d made it all up.

And these days, that’s all I really know for sure, that there’s a possibility the same scenario is playing out here. I know our lives feel real and hurt sometimes, and even horrific things happen, but they also do in dreams too. And they feel very real until we ‘wake up’. But I tell you, I’m quite keen to wake up again and that time, let it be for real.

With love from one sleepy being,

Sharon

What's your life purpose?

Seriously, that question has done my head in for most of my life. And it wasn’t until a couple of years ago that I started to question the whole idea as just that – an idea.

I’d always assumed it was a fact – that each of us have a life’s purpose and when we found it we’d feel fulfilled and happy.life purpose, what is my life purpose, help, love, life, blog, funny, be happy

If only I could find the darn thing!

Throughout my colourful employment history I’ve made many decisions in a response to that question of what is my life’s purpose. I’ve resigned from so many jobs under the depressive thought; ‘surely this can’t be it, this is not my life’s purpose!’

I’ve also embarked on courses and taken jobs all in the hopes that they would fulfill the deep longing, and even deeper more hidden fear that something was missing from my life.

But what I’ve come to realise is the whole idea of your life’s purpose and all the promises wrapped up in those words, is very much like the idea of meeting Mr Right.

When we were young we watched movies and read stories, and basically were instilled with the idea that there was a Mr Right out there (or a Mrs Right) who we’d bump into one day and they’d make everything better. And they’d be perfect. The meeting would be a dream, they would of course sweep me off my feet, and we’d fall instantly in love. There’d never be a drama, bicker or fight, and our life together be everything we’d ever hoped it would – of course, because of them and our picture perfect life together.

However as we grow up (and sometimes out) we come to know love and life aren’t like that. Yes, we can fall in love and even sometimes with the man or woman of our dreams, but often we’re quick to realise that doesn’t mean that they’re perfect. And we’ve also come to realise that we’re not perfect either. And that’s okay.

The issue I’ve found though, is that we haven’t crossed this line of thinking over to other areas, and we haven’t updated our romantic view of our life’s purpose. We still chase the life purpose carrot dangling out, always in front of us and just a little out of reach, that’s going to fix everything and make it all better.

And we’re usually swamped with a barrage of happy faces under facebook posts, and screaming websites of people telling us they’ve found their life purpose and now are living a magical existence… But what we don’t hear, is how their day to day life is still a struggle, or how they’ve found their life purpose  but still feel under appreciated, or are having issues at home. And what they certainly don’t tell you, is that it wasn’t the magic cure-all they’d always thought it would be. (They usually don’t even admit that to themselves).

And that’s the part I want to talk about. The reality of the matter. Throughout my chopping and changing, and obsessing over life purpose and the meaning of life, I’ve been able to find work that does fulfill me, and that satisfies a deep urge to help other people.

However it’s not what makes me happy. And even when I started doing it, life was still hard. I’d still have major ups and downs, I regularly felt overwhelmed, and I still questioned what was the purpose of all of this! That’s largely because I thought it was supposed to make me happy, and it took me a long time to realise that it never could.

So I invite you to be brave and take a reality check. Have you been searching for your life’s purpose and secretly thinking that it’s your answer – that it’ll bring you the happiness and fulfillment you’ve longed for?

It’s okay. We all have. And many people won’t want to let this idea go, but the sooner we do, the closer we come to experiencing everything we’ve longed for. We’ve just been searching for it in the wrong direction.

And if we’re lucky we’ll find things we love doing in this lifetime and that we’re passionate about, and some of us will even be lucky enough to be able to do these things for a living. But these too, like everything outside of ourselves, aren’t what make us happy. They aren’t even what make us feel fulfilled. We do that for ourselves.

And it’s usually not until you’re in your dream job that you start to have the harsh realisation, that it’s not what makes you happy. If you were unhappy before you found your dream job – or ‘life purpose’ – then you’re still going to be unhappy afterwards too (usually once the honeymoon phase wears off).

But there’s a HUGE upside to this, because it means even if you haven’t figured out what you want to do yet, you can make happiness your goal now, and then the rest will follow much more easily.

If you start to make happiness and fulfillment your goal today, you’ll experience  more joy, more  confidence, and your interests, dreams and goals may even change. And it’s from that place that you’ll be able to discover more of what you want to do with your days, and your life.life purpose, what is my life purpose, how to be happy, happiness, dalai lama, quote, help

Then your job, or finding your life’s purpose, won’t need to fix you. It won’t be responsible for your
happiness. It won’t be able to disappointment or let you down. And that’s incredibly freeing.

That’s when you really begin to experience the reality of knowing you can do anything, because you already feel good. You’re already happy. You’re not looking for your job or your life purpose to make you happy.

With love and happiness,

Sharon

Friday Night Revelations

I had the weirdest experience last night in the fish and chip shop, (or fush and chup shop as my fellow Kiwi’s would say), I don’t know if you can relate to  it or not.

amazing flower, spiritual awakening, wake up, learn, wisdom, blog, life

I’d paid for my order and was clutching my little ticket with it’s winning number. I stood off to the side and was watching the ready orders being handed over the counter. I looked over to the line of people waiting to place their orders, and in an instant it was like I was seeing the entire scene from a different perspective.

Each person standing in the line looked so goofy and awkward, their eyes darting around, desperately craving to steal a look at the other people in the shop. Yet equally, or potentially moreso, desperately avoiding eye contact with their fellow humans.

We all looked so hilarious. Going about our business, strapping odd shaped pieces of coloured material over our bodies, so as to reveal a little but not too much skin. We were all so curious about each other, yet avoiding anything that would cause us to engage. amazing photo, flower, spiritual awakening, how to, life, understanding, love, blog, insight, meditation

I felt an out pouring of love for all of us awkward, lumpy human beings going about our business.

I wondered how we missed our cuteness for the majority of the time. We bumble along with our heads down, missing it.

We’re shut down and closed off from each other because we hide what we don’t want others to see or know about us. Yet we’re all the same.

We’re all a mixture of nerves, self-doubt, occasional happiness, fear of rejection, desire for success, swirling loneliness, sickness, fear, hopes, dreams, attempts for love. But we hide this from each other.

We hide our true selves in an attempt to be accepted and validated by each other, yet if only we opened up a little and let go of our need to hide ourselves, then we’d realise just how similar we all really are.

It’s in the realisation of sameness that’d we’d get to breathe out a combined sigh of relief.

That’s when we’d all get to laugh at the insanity of our pretending, and we’d finally get to know what it’s like to truly be accepted and to fit in.

Within ourselves.

amazing photo, spiritual awakening, angels, spirit guide, how to, life, love, blog, healing

When we hide what’s going on inside of us, we’re telling ourselves that what we’re feeling, thinking and experiencing isn’t acceptable. We make up a version that we think is more acceptable and we express that to the world. Then we wonder why we’re always left feeling lonely.

I decided there and then to reel in the character I’d had on show for others, and let myself know that I’m okay exactly as I am. We all are. In all of our awkwardness and uncertainly, we’re doing just fine.

It’s okay to laugh at ourselves and to let it be known that we’re all just bumbling along, trying to make the best of things and work out how the hell we can experience a little more joy and a little less stress. love, relationships, spiritual awakening, personal development, blog, life, love

With love from one gloriously awkward creature, to another.

What To Do When You've Tried Everything.

spiritual awakening, insight, awareness, awakenings, powerful, help, how to

Often I’m bemused at my ability to complain.

For in complaint we presume to know, and how can we possibly know the true order of things? Yet we whinge and moan and put all of our energy into law of attraction to make things happen, when it’s already happening.

In all the trying we fail to see our single job, the only task assigned to us that no-one else can fulfill. Our internal bliss, the only part handed down for us to manage and yet we fail. But the majestic beauty of it all is that we cannot fail.

It’s only in our eyes that we do so, and even when we think we’ve fallen our last fall into finality, we’re still caught and held. And all that was seen becomes unseen, whilst the unseen emerges as our new world.

The final inversion where we get to see that all we’ve ever really seen prior to the moment of pure sight, was never really there.

Our woes gone forever as the clear light of truth emerges. We’ve never had troubles, worries or complaints, as rising clarity presents, brought on not through learning or understanding, but through letting go. Our final terrifying moment of existence paves way to every wish being granted, right when we thought the opposite was occurring.

Why do we think we’ve ever known, if time and time again we see the folly of our past, yet we push and pull and still think it wise, for us to be in command.

It’s in the quiet moments I’ve asked for help from the divine, to once and for all be done of it. The worry, the complaints, the presumption of intention, for I am not the one to know. So extending forward small hands I pass it onward, and forever into the tallest order of infinity.

Graciously received, a knowing force which starts within and extends ever so grandly, outwardly forever.

Yet it is not and will never be of the outward world, and our eyes which appear to see do nothing of the sort.

With love and awakenings,

Sharon

Let The Path Be Lit, And All Repeating Patterns Be Broken

woman, help, love, repeating patterns, insight, spiritual awakening, awakening, psychic, reading,

Tonight I’ve seen with eyes clearer than before.

This afternoon I played out a scenario in my head which was very familiar to me, old but familiar. It hadn’t come around for quite sometime and but was there again nonetheless.

The repeating scenario began with me seeking help outside of myself. Calling up to the heavens and all the unseen worlds to hear and answer me directly. A desperate cycle that quickly spins around and turns into feelings of abandonment and blame.

For why have they not answered me and come promptly to my aid?

But tonight it’s come through so clearly. I’ve finally seen that just as quickly as I’ve reached for help and answers to be delivered from outside of myself, I’ve forgone my own power, and thus projected myself into powerlessness.

There’s no lesson learned if the answer had arrived this way. And that’s not to say it hasn’t come at other times through this avenue – from my guides and angels. It usually does. But it seems in times that I’ve felt I’ve needed it most desperately it (seemingly) doesn’t arrive.

But that’s usually when I’ve missed the point.

I’ve thrown away my power and left myself writhing, limp in desperate whimpers, pleading to be heard.

But I’m the one who hasn’t heard.

And I am the one who hasn’t answered.

It’s in times that we’ve forgone our power, that we see the power in all others. It’s these times that we’ve extended the finger of blame – (for we cannot possibly be to blame when we are so powerless). But we’ve not seen our own projection into powerlessness, because all we’ve seen is the blame.

A blinding flash of insight from within whispered in the night…

Why not extend outward only gratitude and thanks,
and reach within for the help you so desire.

For it is in reaching inward that you connect back into your power,
which needs no help at all.

It’s in seeking that which you desire from inside of yourself, that you’ve finally answered your own call.

You’ve called upon your power to do the saving.

And only then do we fall into inner peace and outward gratitude. For in that moment we truly hear ourselves, and see what has gone overlooked for so long. It’s in that moment we become the one who calls for help, and then answers that same call.

Which is what we’ve longed for the whole time.

The apparent non-answer from above was assisting me all along. And I know this night, what seemed like a dark night, has come because it’s time and I was ready. It was time for me to find my power, which was within me through it all, yet had been left for dead by nobody else but yours truly.

And if you’re reading this then it’s your time also. For when a time comes for one, it comes for many.

repeating patterns, how to, help, thoughts, mind, angels, god, spiritual, blog, love, life

So a helpful question becomes;

Where is your power now? Who have you placed in charge of your life?

Are other’s past or present, physical or unseen at fault for the conditions of your life? For the feelings that you hold?

I’m not sure there’s anyone that answers a definitive no to this question every time. We all give away our power from time to time, and that’s okay. Because anytime you realise is a sheer moment of awareness, which lights up the sky for you to find your way back. Your way back to you.

So it’s time to call it back. Reclaim your power, and realise what you really are.

What we all are.

Wishing you a night where you too are greeted with your own true essence.

A night where you are greeted with your true power.

With love and awakenings,

Sharon

What we hide behind our smiles.

hypnosis, help, wellington, life, love, relationships, hypnotherapy, anxiety, life purpose

In life we can easily get caught up in the race and forget to check if we’re going in the right direction. Or even if we’re on the right track. And we usually never stop to question whether the track we’re on is the right one for us anyway.

From the time we were little we’re told what we’re meant to do; get a job, fall in love, get married, buy a house, have kids, you know the story…

It’s a formula that’s been handed down to us from people we trust. But when we’re truly honest, are these people that we love and trust really happy? They’re giving us advice because that’s what they think will help us have the best life, but as Bob Dylan would say; these times, they are a changin.

They’ve made their choices and done the best with what they’ve had, but does that mean we need to follow down the same path?

And what happens at the end of it all, if you’re not happy? What then? Do you ask for a refund if it hasn’t turned out?

Well, don’t worry cos we can stop the steam train whenever we want, we just have to press the bell.

And it’s never too late to press the bell.

So what’s holding you back then?

The biggest challenge for most people is that they’re too scared to be honest. Most people that aren’t happy secretly think there’s no solution for it. They think their plight is futile so they go on pretending, burying the truth deep inside.

They fear that there’s no hope for them so they carry on pretending (without realising everyone else is pretending as well).

But that’s where we’re wrong.

While it might seem that there’s no solution, it only appears that way because the truth of the situation is is hidden from the light of day. We have to accept the truth first, and then our answers come. They might not come right away, but they will come. We have to be brave enough to open the door first, without knowing where it’s leading to.

The universe needs space and time to respond, but it won’t respond at all if there’s no invitation.

Don’t be scared to admit your life hasn’t turned out exactly as you planned. It’s that way for almost every single person. tiger, help, anxiety, wellington, hypnosis, life, relationships, life purpose, help with, how to, healing

It’s time to be the fearless tiger and speak up.

It’s okay that  you’re not happy, it’s a normal feeling to experience. And by admitting it (even just to yourself) you’ve just moved one step closer to feeling better – genuinely better.

With love,

Sharon

How To Work With Angels Spiritual Development View Random Posts

Calling on Angels – A Guide

angel, spirit guides, love, healing, life, blog, repeating numbers, how to, psychic, blocksThe angels and divine assistance are always there for us, waiting to be invited into our lives.

One of the most beautiful aspects of working with the angels is that you don’t need to wholly ‘believe’ in them. You just need to be open minded enough to want to give it a go, or bold (or crazy) enough to do something even though your logical mind might be telling you not to.

The belief usually comes later.

There is nothing too involved or hard when working with the angels, it is simply about extending an invitation and giving your permission for them to act in your life.

Once this is done then be prepared to observe myriad synchronicities occurring in your life, which can make your life easier, happier and more fulfilling.

Angels usually communicate by offering support indirectly, such as helping you meet just the right person, or through other people who might say something you needed to hear, or through signs that you see such as repeating numbers like 222, 333 or 444 to let you know they’re around.

However you can also work with them more directly, which is how I love to work with them. Working with them directly helps you to ask questions and get instant responses, work through challenges your facing in your life, uncover hidden blocks, receive healing energy, receive wisdom and a fresh perspective about an aspect of your life, and more.

I  open up a dialogue with them which I hear as a voice in my head (usually sounds different to my own however doesn’t always). I’m also visual (which you can be too with some practice, if you’re not already) and get an image of the angel or guide in my head, but once again not always. This experience varies from person to person, and sometimes changes depending on what guide or angel you’re connecting in with.

Often preceding the voice and visuals, I get some sort of sensation in my body to let me know they are near. This can include tingling up and down my spine, goose bumps, a cool breeze, a fuzzy happy feeling in my chest and stomach, ringing in my ears, tapping on my fingers, and more.

How do I start?

To get this sort of direct communication kicked off you can let the angels know you want to connect in with them directly, and then ask for help. It can be extremely helpful to do something to raise your vibration, such as a guided meditation, or focused breathing into your heart to help the connection along as well.

**I have a guided meditation which I have recorded to help connect you into your heart and raise your vibration, which I am happy to send to you for FREE 🙂 Just send me a message and I will email you the MP3. **

Note – if you don’t wish to write here, you can email me at contact@wakinglife.co.nz and request your FREE guided meditation.

If you sit quietly and then call the angels in, you can call one being in particular such as Archangel Michael or Archangel Gabriel, or you can call in any being of love that is there for you. Then say that you’re wanting to communicate with them and can they please help you hear them. Just assume your request has been heard and is working to be answered.

Most people won’t hear the voice externally – like someone was next to you and talking. You will most likely hear it inside your head and may even discount it through thinking you are making it up yourself. This is the crucial point – where you will either shut it down and get no where, or you can continue by allowing the discussions to unfold even if you think you’re making it up.

Once you decide to go along with it, you’ll begin to notice the response sounds a little bit different to how your normal thoughts sound. Such as the voice might be a little higher or lower, or the word choice or phrasing is different to how you would normally say it. Also, the more you interact you’ll begin to receive different perspectives to situations in your life, and advice and wisdom which enlightens you and helps your life. This is the stage that you’ll become more convinced that you’re making a real connection – but you have to get there first.

What Should I Say?

When working with the angels you can be general or specific, and it’s a good idea to try both ways on different days to see what happens. You can just start with invitations and requests, and when the connection gets stronger through practice, get to having back and forth conversations with them.

For example; one morning you can say aloud or silently;

“I invite the angels into my day in every way, and I give you permission to guide me and work through me for my highest good”.

Or you could try asking for help with something specific, such as;

“I invite the angels in and ask for help with getting a job or job offer in the quickest time-frame possible, which is aligned with my highest path” or “I ask the angels to help bring someone loving into my life and I ask for help with remaining open to whatever way they come.”

Another way I like to invite the angels in is to ask for their help with a feeling. For example; on a day that I am feeling low or somewhat contracted from the world, or if something challenging is going on I might say;

“I invite the angels into my day and ask you to show me how loved I am” or

“I ask for your help with feeling more love / happiness / joy / abundance etc”

Remember to thank them for being there for you 🙂

crystal, new year, life, love, angels, spirit guides, healing

What now?

The next step – which is often overlooked but so utterly important, is the letting go!

Once you’ve said, thought or written down your invitation and request then you can move into the next phase which is trust. Have faith that your request has been heard and will be answered. Move into curiousity or simply take a few deep breaths and connect back into the present moment.

Basically, forget about your request 🙂 I like to write them down because it is such a powerful convincer later on that week or even weeks later when I read back over my journal and I can see when I have sent requests out to the angels and then they have been answered. But once you write it down you don’t need to keep asking or thinking about it.

They may not always be answered in the way that you want, but they will always be answered.

Have you ever called on the angels?

With love,

Sharon
